Filsan Farah

Filsan was initially drawn to ACCESS through the success stories of its participants, driven to support individuals who may be turned away from traditional avenues of acquiring capital.

Since 2023, Filsan has volunteered as a member of the loan review committee and has supported the review of the workshop participants’ business presentations. Her favourite part is making personal connections with the aspiring entrepreneurs, and leveraging their stories as inspiration to find new ways to address the challenges of entrepreneurship.

In her professional life, Filsan works in social finance, where she leads a place-based fund that caters to Southwestern Ontario entrepreneurs specifically. Although her career is in a similar field, the flexibility and hands-on support ACCESS provides to these entrepreneurs stood out to Filsan.

Filsan deeply appreciates the larger supportive infrastructure ACCESS provides to entrepreneurs which extend to business literacy and networking in addition to capital. To Filsan, volunteering means engaging with the community, being able to share knowledge and connections, and lending her professional knowledge to make a bigger impact.
